Hello, and welcome to the official website for the "Audacity of Hope Trek," our attempt to be a part of history and witness Barack Obama accept the Democratic nomination for President
of The United States. Feel free to look around and learn about those on the trek as well as read our blogs and watch our videos.
If you would like to call us while we're on the road and leave a voicemail, our phone number is 201-916-4017. We have

In July 2004, I sat mesmerized as I watched the junior Senator from Illinois give the keynote address at the Democratic National
Convention. At the conclusion, I turned to my then 11 year old daughter and through my tears declared "that man is going
to be President some day and he will change the world." I promised myself and her that I would do whatever it took to
help him fulfill my prediction.
In January 2008, I joined Mary Marshall as the co-chair of the Obama campaign
here in Bayonne, New Jersey - deep in the heart of Hillary country. Mary, me and a few other women worked as hard as we could
to get votes for our candidate. Despite the disappointing, but not unexpected, loss here in Bayonne, our little group continued
onward.
This summer, with the help of a number of people, including my now 15 year old daughter Jessa and 20 year
old college student Christina Tello, we have kept hope alive for this campaign. Mary's brilliant concept "Obamafest"
a series of art and music events have helped our little group send over $2000 to the national campaign.
When our
candidate secured the nomination and announced he would be giving his acceptance speech in the 75,000 seat Invesco Field,
Mary, Christina, Jessa and I began planning. I bought a new safer car, we took time off from work, we made all the arrangements.
We registered on every website and we even made reservations in a Denver hotel. As I write this, we still have no tickets
to be a part of the historic event. I have made over 100 phone calls and have too much information to just accept that we
didn't get tickets. I am disappointed and infuriated about how the grassroots nature of the campaign forgot about the
very people who made this nomination possible when it came to sharing the nomination event. BUT - I do not blame that on Barack.
That is the fault of some people who just didn't plan very well.
I however, have never been one to accept
unjust defeat. And I have been an unflinching supporter for too long. I want to share in the historic nomination acceptance.
I want my daughter to witness and be a part of history and I want to share it all with two women with whom have worked side
by side. To that end we are engaging in our very own "Audacity of Hope Trek to Denver"
On Monday August
25, 2008 at 8:00 am we will depart Bayonne NJ and head west on I-80 for Denver Colorado with only the hope in our hearts that
we will be able to share the moment with t he candidate we have supported. We invite you all to share our journey with us
as we take photos and videos and add our thoughts and experiences along the way.
Wish us luck.
